The new resolution does not have a specific deadline.
The Czech authorities have extended the ban on issuing visas and residence permits to citizens of Russia and Belarus, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said.
The current ban was in effect until March 31, 2024, the duration of the current restrictions is not specified. Earlier, the Czech government proposed to introduce an indefinite ban on issuing visas to Russians.
The restriction does not apply to those who already have a residence permit, as well as those who request a short-term visa on the basis of kinship with a citizen of the Czech Republic or another EU country.
In addition, the measure does not apply to obtaining a residence permit if the applicant is a family member of a foreigner who has a residence permit in the Czech Republic.
Belarusians who have applied for a residence permit for the purpose of studying at educational institutions on the basis of scholarships provided by the Czech Republic, the European Union or international organizations also do not fall under the ban.
Another exception: a visa or residence permit can be obtained by persons in whose stay the Czech Republic is interested, and this is confirmed by the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
